Weekly Group Rides - Big Island of Hawaii

All recurring group rides are subject to change 

TUESDAY GROUP RIDES: 
  • ​Recreational  - 7:00am leave from Kailua Kona Target parking lot, NW corner, ride North with options for 24mi, 35mi and 50mi round trip or more, casual, no drop format, rolling hills, tempo riding 13 - 20mph, e-bikes welcome,
  • A / B Riders - 8:00am from Keauhou Shopping Center parking lot – Ride south on the Bypass to Captain Cook, steep hills, robust pace

THURSDAY GROUP RIDES: 
  • Recreational - North - 7:00am leave from Hulikoa Drive in front of Patricio's Mexican Taqueria, ride North with options for 14mi, 27mi and 40mi round trip, casual, no drop format, rolling hills, tempo riding 13 - 20mph, e-bikes welcome, no host coffee at Kona Mountain Coffee
  • Recreational - South - 7:30am leave from intersection of Kam III and Ali'i Drive, ride South with options for 12mi - 40mi round trip with vertical gain of 1,200 to 4,000 feet. with long, steep hills and fast descents.
  • A / B Riders - 8:15am from Kailua Kona Target parking lot – leave near truck loading area, ride North to Waikoloa Shops, +/-50mi RT, Zone 2 to Airport then spicy, avg 22 – 26 mph

SATURDAY GROUP RIDES:

WAIKOLOA QUEENS MARKETPLACE 
  •  Tuesday and Sunday - 8:00am from the parking lot behind Bike Works Beach & Sports - Avg 13 – 18 mph

HILO
  • East Hawaii Riders - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday -  7:00am summer / 7:30am winter from Mid-Pacific Wheels, 1133 Manono St #4 Hilo,                      
  • First Saturday of the Month - 7:45am Mauna Loa Access Road (to roads end) from the parking lot at Pu'u Huluhulu 
  • Mountain Bike ride every Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm from Kulani Forest Mountain bike park off of Stainback Highway.  

GENERAL INFORMATION 
  • Rides leaving from Kailua Kona Target parking lot as a group travel north on HWY 19. Cyclists can choose to turn around or take side roads at any time but generally people stay on the highway and turn around at either (mileage is one way):
    • The Veterans Cemetery/Kua Bay: ~12 miles
    • Scenic Overlook: ~18 miles
    • Waikoloa Queen’s Shops: ~24 miles – Take a break: food, beverages, bathrooms, Bike Works Beach & Sports

  • Hydrate well, use plenty of sunscreen, and beware of Kona Winds!
