Based on the Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii, HCC has been one of the State of Hawaii's premier road, mountain and multisport cycling and community organizations. In addition to its appeal with recreational and competitive cyclists, the club is also a community-oriented group that is dedicated to helping Big Island residents have a safe and rewarding experience by offering opportunities for all levels of riders, working toward making the roads more ride-able, and supporting rider safety. Check the menu items above for things like weekly rides, routes and upcoming events.
HCC is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization and depends on your membership and participation for everything we do. And of course a special shout-out to our great sponsors: Bikeworks, Kiser Motorcycles and Metzler Contracting.
**OUR NEXT EVENT**
Change in Plans!!
Due to some delays in permiting, the Big Island King/Queen of the Mountain Championships, or Mauna Loa Road Race will be postponed until Saturday September 29, 2018.
In it's place, we give you The Kua Bay Training Time Trial!
**July 14th, 2018**
The event starts at 7:00 am, with registration from 6:20 - 6:40 am behind Bike Works Beach and Sports in the Queen’s Marketplace. Just come and ride ... it's free for HCC members!
The course goes south on the Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway, starting at the Hwy 19 sign just south of Waikola Beach Road. The finish line is the Veterans Cemetery left turn sign on the makai side of the highway.
This 12.2 mile time trial is basically the first half of the Lavaman course, featuring the important and challenging hills to the Scenic Overlook and the Kua Bay turnoff.
