Bicycle Hawaii Racing King/Queen of the Mountain Championship For State of Hawaii Course: Waikoloa Road @ Hwy 19 to Mauna Kea Visitor’s Center The Challenge: The Climbs: 3 Cat 1’s and one Cat 2. 48 miles, 9800 Feet Elevation Gain Very Hard Course at Altitude: Do not attempt the Sea to Stars Race unless you are a strong climber. Before registering, everyone should be very honest concerning their ability to complete this race. WHO: Road Bicyclists and now Mountain Bicyclists WHEN: SATURDAY, AUGUST 4, 2018 Registration: Through July 30, 2018. No week of or day of registration Register: Go to www.usacycling.org Registration is only on the USA Cycling web site. No mail or hand in registration . Fees will increase: January 22 – February 28: $80 March 1 – May 31: $90 June 1 – July 31: $105 High School Students: $10 Discounts: HCC 2018/2019 Members, with Jersey: $20 HCC 2018 Members: $10, Military: $20 Race Day Sign In: 7:00 AM @ Bike Works Beach & Sports, Queens Shops, Waikoloa Pre Race Meeting: 7:30 – 7:40 AM @ Bike Works Beach & Sports Easy Ride to Start: 7:50 AM. Rolling Start and Cut Off: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM. 6 ½ hours to complete the course USA RULES: Sleeved bicycle jerseys, no aero bars plus over 40 pages of rules. Must complete race course by 2:30 PM. If a person is still on the course after 2:30 PM, you will be asked to leave the course. Transportation will be provided to Mauna Kea Park for the after race picnic/awards ceremony. After 2:30 PM. If you elect to stay on the course after 2:30 PM, you will be responsible for your own transportation to Mauna Kea Park and back to Bike Works Beach and Sports. You will not be eligible for category awards. This is a race, not a ride with a specific 2:30 PM cut off. No exceptions! |
WHY COMPETE?
Bragging Rights: I finished the Sea to Stars Road Race – 48 miles with 9800 feet of elevation gain. You have to do it!! Prizes: 1st three places overall, male and female. Age group awards – 1st three places Participants Stuff: Tote Bag, race number, tickets for dinner, Other items to be determined. Traffic Control: Three left hand turns will have police officers stopping traffic and one Hawaii Cycling Club volunteer directing competitors. Aide Stations: 5 on course and one at Mauna Kea Visitors Center Toilets: Near 3 aide stations also at the Mauna Kea Visitors Center, Mauna Kea Park and at sign in. Dinner: 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM, Mauna Kea Park Awards & SWAG: To Be Determined Convenient: Fly in and out on the same day from neighbor islands. Sunday Race: Popular FREE local Peaman Race: Pedal Till Ya Puke, 6 miles, 3000 ft. elevation gain. Open to everyone. Sign up for Sea to Stars at USA Cycling.
