**Saturday September 29, 2018** Join Hawaii Cycling Club for the annual Mauna Loa Time Trial/ recreational ride on September 29th, 2018 at 8:00 am. This course is a 17 mile climb on the Mauna Loa Observatory Road, which is a challenging and winding road through the lava field ending with a magnificent view of the volcanos. You will start at 6500 ft and end at 11,000 ft often seeing all the way to Haleakala on Maui. If you haven’t done this ride, do it now. Truly a one of a kind experience. Registration takes place at the Native Tree Sanctuary on Saddle Road opposite Mauna Kea Access road from 7:30-7:50am. The Time Trial starts at 8:00. Recreational participants may start as soon as they register and have until 11:30am to complete the ride. Non Hawaiian Cycling Club members must pay a $10 one day insurance waiver. Members are free. No preregistration, just show up! There will be opportunity to commensurate with fellow riders at the famous HCC Talk Story at the finish with some extra treats this year! Please be prepared for all types of weather, bring warm clothing for the ride down the volcano. HCC will transport the clothing to the finish line.
