Franz Weber Memorial Ride
Saturday, April 25, 2026, 7:30am
The last Saturday in April
In April 2025 we lost our Club President, a great public servant, friend, and anchor of our community. Franz served the Hawaii Cycling Club and the entire Big Island community selflessly, generously, transparently, energetically, and unconditionally. We hold him in our permanent memory for his high ethical conduct, unwavering dedication to helping others, positive attitude, and endless energy and availability, especially to those in greatest need. Franz embodied all the virtues of a dedicated champion for the community and as an enduring model of generosity and kindness.
Join the Big Island cycling community in honoring Franz for this annual recreational group ride following Franz's favorite route from the Kona Community Aquatics Center to the Queen's Shops at Waikoloa. Riders have the option of a 24.5-mile one way ride or 49-mile round trip. Refreshments and Talk Story will be set up in the parking lot behind Bike Works Beach & Sports at the Waikoloa Queens Shops. This event is intended for cyclists of all abilities and age levels who enjoy a reasonable level of cycling fitness. Ride whatever bike you prefer.
Registration is not required, just show up and ride!
DISCLOSURE: This is a non-sanctioned event. Participation in this event is AT YOUR OWN RISK. You are responsible for your own safety. Participants understand the potential risks involved with cycling and agree to hold HCC and its officers harmless for any and all injuries or damages that may result from participation.
